Gravity Die Casting

Castings are produced using a reusable moulds and dies having two or more sections. Each section being accurately located in relation to others.

Dies contain the impression of the castings together with the running, feeding and venting systems. Provision is made for the removal of the castings.  To ensure that casting accuracy is maintained, dies are designed to be readily cleared of debris, hot metal splashes and sand. Dies are capable of being regularly cycled and of quickly dissipating the heat of the metal poured into them.

The gravity casting process can handle heat treatment high strength aluminium alloys that pressure die casting cannot.  This process is a viable route for castings with complex intricate coring and for castings with small volumes uneconomic for pressure casting production.
